I"m a rover and I have the hunting skill. But I find that I need the carrots and radishes more than random eggs and duck meat. Should I switch? And if I switch, will it end up as more of a loss than gain?

You can switch the skill you have learned. Because you need the carrots and radishes, you can go to find the collecting instruction robot. Firstly, you must give up your skill which you learned before. And then learn the new skill.

The first question : should I switch ?

The answer depends on what result you want : leather armor ? then keep hunting. Food ? Go collecting. Money ? well sorry I choose my skills to equip my characters so...

Second question : more loss than gain if you change your skill. I'd say more loss of money because you'll have to pay to have your new skill. Or loss of time. If you're at an xp level higher than the zone you'll have to go collect, you'll have to camp a lower level zone (but I don't think it's a problem if you want to level a new pet).

Anyway...if all you think about is money or if you need a specific material you could camp a zone where you know you'll find the materials to gather.
