ok, now I can tell that you do not have a clue about IT security. No professional worth his job would EVER tell someone to stop their firewall..... massive liability issue if someone get hacked that way, for starters. The current rate of attack attempt on ANY IP is over 1 per second, so it does not take long
a firewall is here to prevent intrusions. you can allow a BT through a firewall, that is not the problem. the problem is that many BT clients have been used as backdoors by hackers. so have IMs clients, and even some IRC clients.
You can double-check that for yourself if you care.
As for me, i am not taking any risks with IT security when working, and doing the same at home.
