This isn't a 3D game but I understand what you're saying. Like a zoom out above character head with all the deatail of the map. Anyways, if you want a bigger area display than the current resolution 1024 x 768 you can edit the config.ini file to the resolution fit for your monitor resolution.
Look for these lines:
[screen]
bpp = 16
height = 768
width = 1024
fullscreen = 1
Change it to:
[screen]
bpp = 16
height = 1050 <-- my monitor resolution
width = 1680 <-- my monitor resolution
fullscreen = 1
Be warn tho.. you may get choppy framerate if your video card is not up to the task.
